Product Description

You deserve better. That?s why, whether you?re a beginner, on a budget, or a working stiff looking for a good backup axe, you shouldn?t settle for some famous name?s second line guitar that isn?t good enough for them to put their famous name on. Ibanez GRG and GRX guitars feature the same warranty and set-up standards as our most expensive instruments. Which explains why we proudly put the name "Ibanez? (not "by Ibanez?) on the headstock.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the money, May 28, 2010
This review is from: Ibanez GRG170DX GIO RG Style Black Night
I bought this as my first guitar. I've had it for about 5 months now. I like to play classic rock, hard rock, grunge, metal, and a little blues on occasion. It's very versatile in the respect that any genre you play on it sounds pretty good.

It made a GREAT beginner's guitar, but as I continue to improve my skills I'm starting to feel the need for a better one.
The construction is decent, there was a lot of leftover dust inside the cavities in the body from whatever machined the holes.
The neck feels good, and it's pretty easy to play. The medium frets are nice but I prefer jumbos. The entire fretboard is actually quite nice, rosewood I believe, and still hardly shows any wear - I play several hours a day.

As for the pickups... I'm still using the stock powersounds, which for the most part are junk, I only use the bridge humbuckers because they're the only ones that really sound good. The neck and center pickups are muddy and leave a lot to be desired... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Axe for the price., September 25, 2008
This review is from: Ibanez GRG170DX GIO RG Style Black Night
You will love this guitar as I do. The neck is very easy to play. The pickups are OK but come on you can't beat EMGS so I put some active EMG 81/85 pickups(Zakk Wylde uses this setup) in this thing and OMG it is beyond belief how great it sounds. My buddies can't believe how great this guitar sounds-buy it you'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mid-Range Guitar, August 23, 2010
This review is from: Ibanez GRG170DX GIO RG Style Black Night
With a gig coming up soon and my cheap rip-off strat sounding excessively horrible during practice sessions with my band, I had to go out and buy a new guitar, something more reputable. I went into a music store with about $500, it was a toss up between either an Epiphone Les Paul or the Ibanez RG170.
After playing "The Black Knight", my mind was made up. It's tone is great, the pickups are solid but most of all, I got this for fast action on the fretboard. It's so easy to play and great for soloing and lead work.
It worked perfectly for my gig and I would recommend it to anyone. One of the best guitar's you can get for the price.
